Awesome video explaining what detail you guys get into while cleaning carpets.
I’ve used them personally and the carpet cleaning quality is top notch. The carpet was just about dry as they were leaving. They also don’t use chemicals or soaps. Just the power of steam. Stay away from the Chemical based carpet cleaners. When you have a carpet cleaning company like these guys clean your house, you’ll see all the left over soap and residue come up from the last carpet cleaning company

It is absolutely the most important step in efficient carpet cleaning. With all the dust, sand and soil particles deep down within the carpet fibres, if these are wet or dampened from the cleaning process, they will turn to mud – and then how hard will it be to perform a thorough cleaning job!

Because we would of then had to intentionally break a perfectly good motor, only to then repair it and throw it away (because we cannot sell used or repaired equipment as “new”) solely for the purpose of the demonstration.

The most common reason this happens is overtightening. This is because it is possible to tighten down the nuts hard enough that the impeller housing gives way, and collapses in on itself. You can tell if this happens if (on a perfectly good, freshly installed motor) its making a “grinding” sound, which would be the impeller blades grinding against the housing.

The Hoover does clean with hot water but what you have to understand is the belts and other parts! The Bissell has many parts to change and you will see for yourself that it is a pain in the butt! Hoover Dual V is the way to go!

I just used mine to do a small area as a test. The area goes from the garage, across my dining room to the kitchen. It pulled some serious dirt out of the carpet. It just made me see how much work I have to do when I actually have to clean the carpets in this whole house. This cleaner also made the carpet feel soft to the touch after 4 years of traffic and settled dirt and stains. I give it 5 thumbs up!!!!

Man, I learned to clean carpet with a Powermatic. You can’t beat the kerosene fired heat! Have some fun and turn that heat up to 250F and get after those greasy traffic lanes. It could be a tempermental machine, but I still loved it.

I don’t like the fact you didn’t prevacuum, prespray or agitate. By going straight to steam cleaning, you are mixing dirt and water and that just makes mud! Your pushing the mud into the carpet and making it even dirtier. this is very poor performance

Well sir, I’m not sure what your intentions were in posting this.
If the intent was as above ” ie gets the dirt out …for sure”, you may want to rethink your cleaning procedures.
If you’re charging $10/room, sure, that would pass as clean. You look like you’re up to date with tools, ie glide and such, so why such a poor display of cleaning?

With a good prep work you could have that carpet looking immaculate!

I have been cleaning carpet since 1971, not too many people have as much experience as I do. The truth about carpet cleaning is this – it is the technician and not the technique that determines the degree of clean. The IICRC tests a persons ability to retain words long enough to select the correct answer from a multiple choice question. Only experience and not the biggest baddest dirt sucker will rule supreme.

You are right. Every technique is by its very nature the best and the worst. The ingredient given little credit is the journeyman who is the master of his tools, not the maker of the tools and certainly not the apprentice or the customer. Good illustration using the Mona Lisa.

Chem Dry is a joke. Their Machine abases the carpet.. leaves soap in the carpet.. Alot of it,

Ah typo.

And yes there is soap. We have to Neutralize it.. Because when our truck sucks up what your mess was.. there’s an Immense Ammount of Soap suds..

IICRC told us all of this too.

Chem dry uses Soaps to clean. they abraise carpets and ruin them. Steam is the best.

(so says IICRC Tech that trained us)

Deadly265, it’s a good thing you seem not to be employed by any carpet cleaning company because you’re ignorant. I work for Chem-Dry and we only use either The Natural or The Natural II which is a hypoallergenic carbonated cleaning solution with no soaps or detergents. There are two different machines and the ones in the videos on YouTube is called the Powerhead which is powered by the CTS 350 truck mount which only uses a fraction of the amount of water that steam cleaners use.

Other Chem-Dry franchises that choose not to use the powerhead (simply because it’s cheaper and easier to manage), use the original Chem-Dry system where the technician sprays the solution onto the carpet and then uses a machine that looks like a buffer that has a NON-ABRASIVE pad underneath it called a bonnet that collects everything that the carbonation bubbles up to the surface. There’s a reason Chem-Dry is the only carpet cleaner that is located WORLD-WIDE… it’s the best out there. =)

i just cleaned 20 office chairs formerly “dry-cleaned”. i took them outside, and did ten passes to get all the residue out, the edges were foaming like a mad dog!!!

iicrc is about learning the standards. i took the water class, and two things i learned, that i never knew before were the most important on the job, where even a company with 20 years “experiance” was bidding a flood job, and misinformed a customer with bad advice!!!(they said it was possible to save the pad after a sump-pump flood…wrong answer! its catagory 2!!! that water is not from a clean source!)

FYI.. an old toothbrush also works wonders to remove dust and dirt away from the edge of the wall before vacuuming.
